Keys and Re-Keys

Hey everyone!

It's getting to be about that time when one or two of you might misplace your key or lock your keys in your apartment.  I'm here to bring you some answers about what you should do when/if this happens to you.

First, you should come to the Seahawk Landing Office in Building 6.  Come to the front desk and tell the Desk Receptionist or Night Security guard that you have lost your key or locked your key in your apartment  Either the DR will call a Key Runner or the Night Security guard will get you a loaner key from the key box.  This loaner key is yours to borrow for 24 hours.  Once you find your keys or get your original key from within your locked apartment, you should bring the loaner key back to the front office.  A loaner key will cost you $5 which will be charged to your student account.

If you are not able to find your key within 24 hours or if you forget to return the loaner key for any reason, you will be charged $25 for a re-key of your room and apartment.  This re-key will take place within the next day or two after your 24 hour loaner key period.

If you should ever have any questions about keys, please feel free to ask me, Adam the ARC, or one of your RAs here in the Landing!

Until next time...

Hey everyone!

I hope you had a relaxing weekend and are geared back up for the week!

Today, I'd like to take a few minutes to share a few thoughts and points of clarification with you all:

1.  THANKS to everyone who came out to the After Hours Pool Party!  We had fun getting to spend time with you all, play some pool games, enjoy some music thanks to DJ Magik, and cooling off in the pool!
2.  Blue cards!  I know several of you have been hounded by your RAs this week about filling out blue cards and getting them turned back into us...please do this!  It is important for us to have that information on file for you in case something should ever happen to you.

3.  Hopefully you've seen the signs around the buildings, but please be careful if going to the beach in the coming week.  The rip currents are very strong right now and we ask that you use extra caution.

Until next time...

All Things Maintenance

Good morning, everyone!

I hope some of you made it out to Summer Sizzle last night and enjoyed the food, tie dye and backyard games!

I have heard from some of your RAs that a lot of you out there are taking the time out to read this blog each day- THANKS!!! I hope you will find it will be a useful tool for you to use throughout the year to gain information about the Landing and UNCW. Tell your friends they should read it, too!

As for today’s information, I just want to take some time to review maintenance requests. Each of you has the ability to enter maintenance requests into Housing and Residence Life’s online system using Seaport at uncw.seaport.com. Please be as specific as possible when describing your maintenance need so that the maintenance staff can best meet your needs. This is the fastest and most effective method to having your every day maintenance needs met. Of course, as always, if it’s an emergency please contact a Seahawk Landing staff member and we will help you meet your needs as quickly as we can.

If you have any questions about this system, your Resident Assistant can walk you through the process or I’d be more than happy to answer any questions that I can!

Until next time…
