Master Planning Meetings

Good morning, everyone!

I want to take time this morning to make you aware of an opportunity that you have to let your voice be heard by the Master Planners for the university.

Phase II of the UNCW Master Planning Update will kick-off the week of January 31st. During that week, there will be three design charrette sessions on campus for students. A design charrette is an opportunity for you to participate in the planning process by working with our master planners, AECOM, in a session that involves drawing and presenting your concept for the future of UNCW.

The three student sessions are:

1. Hawks Nest – February 1st from 11:30 AM to 2 PM.
2. Warwick Center Lobby – February 2nd from 11 AM to 2 PM
3. Wagoner Hall Dining Room – February 2nd from 5 PM to 8 PM

Until next time...

Online Practice Interviews

Good morning, everyone!

Right now is a busy application time on campus: students are applying to Graduate School, Homecoming Court, exec positions on ACE, SGA, RHA, etc.

Along with many of those applications comes an interview with an individual or a group of people.  For some of you, this may be your first interview or interviews may just make you nervous.  Either way, I want to share a great resource with you that will help you to practice for interviews.

The UNCW Career Center offers an online video streaming interview resource on which you can practice answering interview questions with a webcam and then watch your answers to see how  you did.  Click here to learn more about the resource.

If you do not own a webcam, you can use one in the Career Center. To schedule a practice interview in the Career Center, login to Interview Stream and click on "Schedule Interview". Practice interviews are held in the Career Center, room 2035, Fisher University Union. To schedule a follow-up appointment with a career counselor, please call the Career Center at 962-3174.

Policy Clarification: Guests and Alcohol

Good morning everyone,

As a part of my role here at UNCW, I serve as a hearing officer in the Office of the Dean of Students.  I hear a lot of cases and know of a lot of you who are documented for having guests present in your apartment with alcohol.

Many of you come to my office and say to me, "but my guests were over 21".  I want to spend today's post clarifying the alcohol policy in regard to guests in your apartment.

In the Code of Student Life, under Section IV, there is a section on Alcohol.  Bullet point #2 under alcohol states:
Residents who are under 21 years of age are not allowed to host people with alcohol regardless of the guest’s age. Non-UNCW students and UNCW students living off-campus are not allowed to bring alcohol into residential facilities.
If you have any further questions about the Code of Student Life, please feel free to contact me or read through the Code of Student Life by clicking here.

New Maintenace Request System

Good morning, everyone!

I have exciting news to share this morning regarding the online maintenance request system that we use here in the residence halls!  The exciting news is that we have a brand new system this semester.  You will now be able to track your maintenance requests from the time you submit it until it is completed via email.

You will still find the maintenance request system online through my Seaport.  However, now, when you submit a maintenance request, you will automatically be sent an email telling you that it has been received.  Then, you will receive an email letting you know it has been completed or what the progress is if they're not able to fix it right away.

We hope that you will find this system much more user-friendly and be happy with the progress that Housing Operations has made for you the resident!!!

Please let me or your RA know if you have any questions!

Until next time...
