I want to take some time this morning to share with you all about a service initiative that is being started here on UNCW's campus. The Housing and Residence Life office has started a service project called My Teal Hands. This is a program geared toward getting residential students at UNCW out into the community doing service work with our teal hands. Each residential area has selected a different group to work with for the year.
Here in the Landing we have selected the Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program. CTRP is a non-profit program, teaching therapeutic and recreational horseback riding to children and adults with special needs.
This past Saturday, the RA staff of the Landing went out to CTRP and did a few hours of work- we had a great time! We were able to help clean up the stables, work with the horses, and help with some of the children/adults riding horses. Below you will see some pictures from our day at CTRP.
It is our hope to get many of you involved with this service initiative as well. Look for more information coming soon from your RA. If you'd like to hear more about the program, feel free to drop by my office any time and speak with me about it!Until next time...
Katie
